Sanctification: Ephesians 4:25-5:2

How does the call to follow God's example and “walk in the way of love" challenge the ways we interact with ourselves and each other every day? What if inner transformation could reshape our communities? Paul urges followers of Jesus to put off the old way of life and embrace new identity in Jesus - the reality of who we are in Christ has to be reflected in our character and conduct.

Scripture passage(s): Ephesians 4:25-5:2, Luke 2:22-40 (Children’s Ministry)

This is Week 2 of our series on Sanctification

Respond together:

  • Paul warns against giving the devil an opportunity. How do you deal with your anger?

Can you identify some of the roots of anger in your story? What steps might help ensure that your anger does not give the devil an opportunity in your life?

  • Reflect on your conversations in the past few months.

Would an observer sense they are characterized by encouragement and empowerment or by negativity and ‘unwholesome talk’?

  • Paul warns against grieving the Spirit of God. What actions, speech, postures or attitudes in your life may be causing sorrow to the Holy Spirit?

Imagine Jesus had the same relationships as you and works in the same field and job, what would walking in the way of love look like in your daily life?

  • What potential acts of love, prayer and service might God’s Spirit be drawing to your attention?
