Vocation (Walking Worthy): Matthew 28:16-20
What does it mean when Jesus calls us to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit? How does this ancient trinitarian invitation hold the key to our deepest vocation and change our perspective in the way we live our lives and the places we find ourselves?
Scripture passage(s): Matthew 28:16-20, Luke 10:25-27 (Children’s Ministry)
Week 6 of our series on Vocation (Walking Worthy)
Respond together:
A disciple is more than a believer but someone who is a student (or a learner, or an apprentice) that is under authority to Jesus. Do you live under his authority? How? Where do you have a difficult time submitting to the authority of Jesus?
Regardless of the abilities, roles and responsibilities we hold (ie. single, married, parent, jobs etc), every Christian is called to train others in the way of Jesus’ life. Every Christian is a missionary and every context is a mission field. How does this shape your view of life in the places you find yourself?
How does being baptized “in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit” shape your understanding of identity in Christ? In what ways does your baptismal identity send you into your home, workplace and neighbourhood with a purpose?
