2023 Sermon Series: Made in the Image of God
Dear Renewal Church:
We ponder afresh, in light of Christ’s life, death and resurrection, who we are together as a reflection and bearer of God’s glory and visible presence within creation (Genesis 1:26-27). What does it mean for people to be made in the image of God and for which God marveled and declared “…very good!” (Genesis 1:31).
In Jesus Christ, we see exactly who God is and the fullness of God in the flesh. “The Son is the Image of the Invisible God…” (Colossians 1:15) as the Apostle Paul declares. And through the person of Jesus Christ we see the true image of humanity as well. What might it mean to see ourselves this way, as “being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18)?
Perhaps it might begin to reorient how we see others as well. As C.S Lewis writes:
“There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations - these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat….”
We are excited to journey into this series together.
Grace and peace,
The Elders, Pastor Josh
