The Third Sunday of Easter: Luke 24:36-53

On this Third Sunday of Easter, we continue to explore the what resurrection means for the renewal of all creation and for vibrant living in the here and now. We read Luke's account of the risen Jesus appearing before his disciples. Jesus offers comfort for our fear-filled hearts and empowers us to be joyful witnesses.

Scripture passage(s): Luke 24:36-53

Respond together:

  • What voices of anxieties and fear might be robbing you of your peace or from moving forward in the freedom offered through Jesus? How might the One who has overcome the world be your anchor in the midst of the storm you find yourself in?

  • Despite touching the risen Jesus, the disciples ‘still did not believe it.’ In John, Thomas doubts the experiences of the disciples.. Where in our story do we dismiss what is possible for God to do? Is God inviting you to step into something that may seem impossible? Is God asking you to reconsider what you think is possible?

  • From being locked away in fear to being launched into culture with the power of the Spirit. What does Jesus’ “Peace be with you” and the Holy Spirit empowering you enable you to do this week? In what ways do you feel trapped in fear?
